Two defendants who previously pleaded guilty to driving under the influence charges were sentenced Thursday morning in Carbon County court.

Judge Steven R. Serfass imposed sentences on:

Jason Charles McFarland

, 41, of Walnutport, was sentenced to serve 72 hours to six months in jail, a fine of $1,000 and one-year license suspension. He was arrested on April 7, 2017, along Delaware Avenue by Palmerton police. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.

He also pleaded to a charge of persistent disorderly conduct for an incident on April 11, 2018, in the area of 590 Mauch Chunk Road, filed by Palmerton police. He and another man were found fighting at that location. A simple assault count was dropped. Serfass placed him on probation for six months, consecutive for the DUI charge. He also must have no contact with the victim in the case.

He was given credit for four days already served on the DUI and paroled.

Kyle Lee Tetreault

, 22, of Nesquehoning, was sentenced to serve 72 hours to six months in jail, a fine of $1,000, one-year license suspension and render 25 hours of community service.

He arrested on Nov. 16, 2017, by Lansford police at East Patterson and Springgarden streets. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.

He was given credit for two days already served and will begin serving the one day remaining at 9 a.m. on April 1.

Each defendant must also pay court costs of about $1,000, pay a $50 per months supervision fee while on parole or probation and follow any recommendation of their drug and alcohol evaluation.
