Dr. Seuss is coming to Pleasant Valley High School
This year the spring musical at Pleasant Valley High School will be “Seussical,” a bright and colorful musical based on the beloved characters found in the writings of Dr. Seuss.
With music written by Stephen Flaherty and lyrics by Lynn Ahrens, all of our favorite Seuss characters come to life.
The Cat in the Hat is played by junior Giovanni Marini.
The production centers around the Cat in the Hat telling the story of Horton the Elephant, who is played by sophomore Jozef Janak.
Horton discovers a speck of dust that contains the Whos, including a young Who named Jojo, played by sophomore Gabrielle Larrequi. Horton takes on the challenge of protecting the Whos from “naysayers and dangers” all while guarding an abandoned egg left in his care by Mayzie La Bird, who is played by Aubrey Sawyer.
The characters travel from the Jungle of Nool to the Circus McGurkus to the world of the Whos.
The cast also includes Emily Gethen, Yesha Biney, Jaxon Havens, Jeanna DiAngelis, Danielle Cleary, Samantha Brooks, Isabella Lindner, Anthony Long, Zach Smith, Jamari Meade, Jose Trinidad, Ryan Morris, Aleelah Thompson, Andrea Janak, Emma Roberts, Madison Jackson, Mranda Chiong and Kalia DiAngelis.
The production is once again directed by Dan and Marcie Mulligan. The orchestra is under the direction of Julius Sarkozy.
