In an effort to promote the many outdoor recreational activities available in the 122nd Legislative District to area residents, state Rep. Doyle Heffley, R-Carbon, will host a Sportsmen’s and Outdoor Expo from 1-4 p.m. Saturday in Jim Thorpe.
The free event will take place at the Penn Forest Township Volunteer Fire Co. No. 1, 1387 Route 903. The expo will include door prizes and feature more than 30 exhibitors.
In addition, Heffley said a representative from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation will be available to answer any questions attendees may have about REAL ID and the process of obtaining one.
The expo will be preceded by a hunter/trapper education course, sponsored by the Pennsylvania Game Commission, which will start at 8 a.m. The class is available to first-time hunters and children ages 11 and up. Parents are encouraged to attend with their children. Topics covered during the course include responsible hunting behavior, firearm safety, wildlife and conservation management, and hunting techniques. To register for the course, visit the commission website at www.pgc.state.pa.us.
