State to auction 2 bottles of rare Scotch whisky

HARRISBURG (AP) — Pennsylvania is planning to auction two bottles of rare Scotch whisky.

The Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board is offering a Macallan 1949 Single Malt Scotch bottled in 2002 and a Macallan 1989 Single Malt Scotch bottled in 2010.

The minimum bid for the 1949 Single Malt Scotch is set at $25,000, and the minimum bid for the 1989 Single Malt Scotch is set at $9,000.

The board says the state acquired the bottles through a supplier. Board spokesman Shawn Kelley says they anticipate a lot of interest from Scotch lovers who will have a chance to acquire what could be the “crown jewel” of their collection.

Sealed bids will be accepted through 4 p.m. April 5. Winning bidders must be able to pick up the bottles at a state liquor store.
