Suspect arrested in Pottsville jeweler’s death
New Orleans Police have arrested a 25-year-old woman suspected of killing a Schuylkill County jeweler, according to a tweet from the New Orleans Police Department.
Megan Hall was booked early Sunday afternoon with second degree murder in the death of Patrick Murphy, in a Treme hotel near the French Quarter Thursday, the New Orleans Police Department reported Sunday.
Megan Hall, accompanied by her attorney, surrendered to police in connection with the death of Murphy, 62.
Just before noon Thursday, NOPD First District officers responded to a call of an unclassified death at the hotel.
Officers learned that staff at the location discovered an unknown white male subject lying in a bed and unresponsive. The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene. Upon further investigation, the incident was reclassified as a homicide by cutting.
Hall was initially sought as a person of interest for questioning in this investigation and then the NOPD Homicide Unit detectives positively identified Hall as the perpetrator.

A very classy man who treated everyone with respect,” Serfass remembered.

Schuylkill County Commissioner George Halcovage said, “It’s tragic and my prayers go out to his wife and children for strength. I’ve known Pat all my life. He cared about his community, was active in church, served on the school board, chaired the Cancer Society Relay for Life, Chaired Make A Wish ... anytime you needed somebody to assist, to volunteer, Pat always stepped forward.”
“He really cared about Pottsville and Schuylkill County,” Halcovage added.
