Senior center

The menu at the Panther Valley Senior Center for the week of March 4-8 is:

Monday: Chicken cordon bleu, herbed rice, green beans and an orange

Tuesday: Halupki, mashed potatoes, blended vegetables, Greek yogurt

Wednesday: Vegetable soup, tuna casserole, peas, roll and grapes

Thursday: Pork and peppers, rice, broccoli and carrots, pudding

Friday: Stuffed shells, zucchini, garlic bread, fruit salad

The Panther Valley Senior Center has announced upcoming events for March 4-15.

Zumba on March 4 at 10 a.m.; Bingo on March 5 at 11 a.m.; Now You Have It Now You Don’t on March 6 at 11 a.m.; Nickel-Keeno on March 7 at 11 a.m.; Sunshine Meeting on March 8 at 10 a.m. followed by Senior Games practice.

Poker-Keeno on March 11 at 11 a.m.; Scattergories on March 12 at 11 a.m.; Understanding Insurance presented by ETA Insurance on March 13 at 11 a.m.; Birthday Bingo on March 14 at 11 a.m.; St Patrick’s Party on March 15 at 11 a.m.

Woman’s Club

Members of the Nesquehoning Woman’s Club will meet on Monday in the social rooms of Zion Lutheran Church, 2 E. Catawissa St. The guest speaker will be Amy Hillanbrand who specializes in senior fitness. Hostesses for the meeting are Linda Paul and Connie Kravelk. President Jennifer Drake will preside. New members are welcome to attend.

Lenten fish dinner

The Shrine of St. Therese will hold a Lenten fish dinner from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. March 8 at Madonna Hall, located behind the shrine at 1 E. Garibaldi Ave., Nesquehoning.

There is a charge for the meal, which includes breaded fish, macaroni and cheese, coleslaw, string beans, stewed tomatoes, dessert and coffee or tea. This is dine in or take out.

The dining hall will serve meals until 6:30 and the hall will be open for eating until 6:55 p.m. to allow patrons time to get to Stations of the Cross at 7 p.m. in the shrine.

The shrine is part of St. Joseph Parish of the Panther Valley in Summit Hill.

St. Vincent de Paul meeting

The monthly meeting of the St. Vincent de Paul Society of St. Joseph Parish of the Panther Valley will be held at 6:30 p.m. on March 5 in the Rev. James J. Burdess Social Hall, located in the basement of the church, 462 W. Ludlow St.

The St. Vincent de Paul Society offers emergency food pantry services to the entire Panther Valley area, relying primarily on donations from the parish family, Salvation Army, and various other community organizations. New members are invited.
