Schuylkill County Commissioners took the following action this week:
• Approved a change order to an existing contract with TKO Cleaning Services for the county’s Human Services Building, 410 S. Centre St., Pottsville. The contract will be increased by 379 calendar days at a cost of $23,750, and end April 30, 2020.
TKO also has a two-year cleaning contract for the 911 Communications Center Building, 435 N. Centre St., Pottsville, effective Jan. 1, 2019, through Dec. 31, 2020, at $10,800; and a contract to clean the Children & Youth Building, 324 N. Centre St., Pottsville, for the same time frame, at $25,200 per year.
• Approved a transfer of $461,096 from the county’s contingency fund. Director of Finance Paul Buber explained that the monies were budgeted in anticipation of settling two union contracts involving 203 employees. The money will cover back pay for those employees for a 2 to 3 year period, Buber said.
• On the request of Sheriff Joseph Groody, approved the lease/purchase of two 2020 Police Interceptor utility-base all-wheel drive vehicles from KME/Kovatch, Nesquehoning. The proposal for the two vehicles is a five-year lease at a cost of $17,927.22 per year, or a total cost of $89,636.10 over five years.
