A 2017 Freightliner truck operated by Daniel W. Kempton, 49, of Albrightsville, was struck from behind by a vehicle traveling at a higher rate of speed on Interstate 78 in Allentown at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday.

State police at the Fogelsville barracks said Kempton was eastbound and traveling uphill on the interstate when a 2008 Toyota Camry struck the rear bumper and lift gate of the Freightliner with its front bumper and hood. Police did not identify the driver of the Toyota.

Police said both vehicles came to rest at the initial point of contact. The Toyota was towed from the scene.

There were no injuries in the mishap.
