Police: 1 taken to hospital after burglary pursuit, shots

ALLENTOWN (AP) — Police in the eastern Pennsylvania city of Allentown say one person was taken to a hospital after shots were fired as officers tried to stop a car following a suspected burglary.

Allentown police said officers responding to a report of a burglary in progress at about 2:30 p.m. Monday saw people believed involved driving away.

Police say officers tried to stop the vehicle and shots were fired. One person was taken to a hospital for treatment of injuries that police said weren’t considered life-threatening.

Police said no officers were injured by gunfire. They said everyone involved in the alleged burglary has been accounted for and “there is no further threat to the community.”

Police and the Lehigh County district attorney’s office are investigating.
