A 17-year-old girl from Lehighton was injured in a hit-and-run crash at 6:32 p.m. Jan. 27 on Lower Smith Gap Road in Lower Towamensing Township.

State police at Lehighton said the victim sustained minor injuries and was transported to the St. Luke’s Hospital-Palmerton Campus in the Palmerton Ambulance.

Police said she was the driver of a 2006 Subaru Forester that swerved to avoid striking a vehicle that entered its path. The Forester landed in a ditch and received minor front-end damages. It was towed from the scene.

Police said an unidentified vehicle traveling south on Lower Smith Gap Road failed to stop at a stop sign and mde a left turn onto Blue Mountain Drive, cutting in front of the Forester.
