Local Roundup: Results from Feb. 2
The Marian boys and girls basketball teams recorded wins on Saturday.
The Jim Thorpe and Northwestern girls also picked up victories.
BOYS BASKETBALL
Tri-Valley-Marian
Marian pulled within one victory of clinching a District 11 playoff berth by routing Tri-Valley, 66-33, in Schuylkill League action.
The Colts got a strong game from Brandon Sabulsky, who totaled 20 points. Tyler Fritz’s 17 and Chris Ritsick’s 11 also aided the effort.
The win improves Marian’s record to 10-10 overall and 5-6 in league play. The Colts close the regular season with games against Weatherly and Nativity.
Tri-Valley won the JV game, 55-51. Chris Latoff scored 18 for Marian.

The Spartans (12-8, 12-3) placed four players in double figures, led by Chris Andrews’ 20 points.
For the Blue Bombers (11-9, 8-7), Justin Hosier’s 22 points and Nate Dougherty’s 17 led the way.

After scoring just 11 points over the first three periods, Pine Grove’s offense came alive in the fourth quarter to pull out a 26-22 Schuylkill League win over Lehighton
Rachel Frew scored five of her nine points in the final frame to lead the Cardinals (10-9, 5-6).
Lehighton (8-12, 2-10) was led by Tinaya Klotz and Lillian Brown, who both scored five points.
