Touch of Heart campaign cheers veterans, senior citizens

U.S. soldiers serving abroad, veterans and residents of local nursing homes will receive handmade and personally signed Valentine’s Day cards this year, thanks to those who participate in Blue Ridge Communications’ “Touch a Heart” Valentine campaign.

This initiative is designed to deliver personal, handmade cards to those who might not otherwise receive one.

These cards will serve as powerful messages of joy and hope to our men and women serving around the world, our veterans and the elderly as they are so appreciative of the outpouring of kindness.

“It’s a way to make sure that as many people as possible get remembered on that day,” said Julianne Brixius, marketing and public relations coordinator for Blue Ridge. And it teaches children the importance of giving to someone, especially something they made themselves.”

Children may trace their hands on the card, and then decorate it any way they wish, adding their name and a personal message.

However, all ages are welcome to make a card. Feel free to create your own card or pick up a Valentine coloring page from the Blue Ridge Communications lobby.

Drop off your cards at all Blue Ridge Communications offices or mail your project to Blue Ridge Communications (Attn: Julianne Brixius), 613 3rd St., Palmerton PA 18071.

Deadline to return cards to the BRC offices is Feb. 5, to allow time to deliver the cards.
