A look back: Jan. 10, 1962

Lehighton Postmaster Wilbur G. Warner announced today post office clerk Russell Jacoby of 524 Iron St., Lehighton, has been promoted to superintendent of mails at the Lehighton Post Office.

In his new position, Jacoby will have general charge, under the supervision of the postmaster, of all mailing operations, including the distribution and delivery of incoming and outgoing mail.

The new postal official entered the postal service on Oct. 16, 1937, and served as a carrier and clerk before being inducted into the Navy, where he served in the Pacific Theater until the end of the war.

He is married to the former Doris Hettig.
