Two people were transported to the hospital after a one-car crash at 5:50 p.m. Wednesday on the Kunkletown Road in Ross Township.

State police at the Lehighton barracks said Nicholas C. Perez, 34, and Andrew J. Walter, 37, both of Harrington, Delaware, were taken to the Lehigh Valley Hospital-Pocono, East Stroudsburg, in the Wind Gap Ambulance.

Police said Perez was driving a 2012 Chrysler westbound on the Kunkletown Road and was driving at speeds that were too great for conditions. Police said he attempted to slow down by applying his brakes to avoid a deer that crossed the roadway. The driver lost control of the vehicle.

The car traveled into the right shoulder of the roadway and struck a tree while its back end fish-tailed and the vehicle struck a second tree before coming to rest, police said.
