Tamaqua man charged after fleeing police

A Tamaqua man is facing multiple charges after he attempted to elude Summit Hill police in an incident at 1:41 a.m. Dec. 3 in White Bear.

Police said Brandon D. Bowman, 22, of West Spruce Street, was charged with fleeing or attempting to elude police, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving while under suspension, reckless driving, careless driving and for driving a vehicle with an expired inspection sticker on it.

Police said they observed Bowman driving erratically along East White Bear Drive. After attempting to pull the driver over, Bowman fled at a high rate of speed, driving in both lanes of West White Bear Drive, until he was halted at the intersection of Route 309 and the Owl Creek Road with the assistance of Tamaqua and Coaldale police.

Upon searching Bowman’s vehicle, police said they found a glass bong that had burned marijuana residue in it.
