A woman was flown from the scene of a crash on Route 248 in Lehigh Township this morning.
At 10:02 a.m., a blue Chrysler Sebring was on Municipal Road at a stop sign facing north, at the intersection of Route 248 (Lehigh Drive).
According to a witness, upon pulling into the intersection, the Sebring was struck by an orange tri-axle dump truck. The truck was fully loaded at the time. The truck was owned by NS Paving of Lehighton, and operated by Corey Mann, 49, of East Stroudsburg.
The Sebring was driven by Joan Frable, 77, of Lehigh Township.
The dump truck rolled over and the contents were dumped onto Route 248.
After the collision with the dump truck, Frable’s Sebring collided with a parked Cadillac in the TMC Auto Sales lot, on Route 248 and Municipal Road. Frable had to be extricated from her vehicle and was flown via helicopter to Lehigh Valley Hospital. Mann was transported to Lehigh Valley Hospital by Northampton Regional EMS.
Lehigh Township Fire Rescue and Lehigh Township Public Works assisted with the crash scene.
The roadway was closed for over two hours for the investigation and clean-up of the crash.
