A Monroe County driver is facing charges following a traffic stop that occurred at 5:10 p.m. on Nov. 21 along Interstate 80 in Delaware Water Gap.

State police at Stroudsburg said Richard Melendez, 49, of Tobyhanna, was stopped for a traffic violation. He was found to be under the influence of a controlled substance and in possession of a controlled substance.

He was taken into custody and transported to the county prison for processing. A DUI charge is pending blood test results, troopers said.
