Sara Evans returns to scenic Jim Thorpe on Dec. 1.

Her “At Christmas Tour” will kick off the holidays at Penn’s Peak with all the festive flourishes to warm fans of all ages during the cold season.

“I actually think I’ve done more tour dates in the state of Pennsylvania than in any other state,” Evans said. “I love doing shows in Pennsylvania because the fans are so dedicated and have always been so supportive of me. It always feels like coming home.”

In 2014, Evans released a holiday-themed album, “At Christmas.” Included on the 10-song collection are timeless classics, such as “Silent Night,” “Winter Wonderland,” “I’ll Be Home for Christmas” and “O Come All Ye Faithful,” along with an original song and title track written by Shane Stevens and Toby Lightman.

“My band and I had played some Christmas songs throughout the years around the holidays, and once I had the full album, it just seemed to make sense to put together a whole show that includes the Christmas favorites and also my biggest hits,” she said.

“We have so much fun doing these Christmas shows because everyone is getting ready to celebrate the season, and it’s just a fun and cozy night,” she said.

“My all time favorite is ‘Oh Holy Night.’ I get so emotional singing it each night and when the song is soaring toward the end, I have to work hard to keep myself from crying,” said the multi-platinum-selling artist.

Evans will mix in her well-known hits along with cuts from her eighth studio album, “Words,” during the holiday concert.

“Words,” released in 2017 on Evan’s brand-new label, Born to Fly Records, allowed Evans complete musical creative freedom and vision.

“I’ve actually co-produced all of my albums since “Born To Fly,” so I’ve pretty much always had a clear direction and vision for each album. The main difference this time was not having a label and A & R team putting pressure on me to record certain songs because they wanted me to chase a radio hit. It allowed me to just choose the absolute best songs that moved me.”

Evans has said this is her most personal work to date.

“My absolute favorite song is called ‘All The Love You Left Me.’ Most people will listen to it and think it’s about a romantic relationship that’s come to an end,” she said.

“For me, the first time I heard it, I had a completely different take. A few years ago there was a boy in our community who got diagnosed with cancer and sadly passed away almost a year after his diagnosis. I couldn’t help but think of his mother when I heard the song, and what she must be going through. Losing the light of her life and having to constantly be reminded of him in every little detail surrounding her. I can’t talk about it without crying and almost cry every single time I perform the song.”

Joining Evans at Penn’s Peak will be California country trio Fairground Saints, who will open all shows of her holiday tour.

“I promise by the end of the show, you’ll feel like you went to an entertaining and fun country concert and also be ready to head home and decorate your Christmas tree or down some eggnog,” Evans said.
