Schuylkill Township residents will not be seeing an increase in their taxes this year as supervisors plan to hold the line on their annual budget.

The year’s total income is expected to be $459,189 and the anticipated revenue from all sources will be $455,440.

The township expects to receive $28,816 in revenue from the highway aid fund and $77,267 for the collection of garbage.

In other business this month, the township voted to advertise an increase in application fees for variances and special exceptions from $500 to $700 and the amount for an appeal from $300 to $500. There will be an upcoming judicial sale for the property that has been condemned and abandoned on Piersol Street, unless a plea is filed by Nov. 27.

Supervisors decided to purchase the township workers’ compensation insurance from EMC, a $789 savings.

Supervisors approved an annual donation of $500 to the Tamaqua Public Library.

The 2017 financial audit of the township was completed and an invoice for $5,000 was approved for payment to Lettich & Zipay.

The township approved the payment for hauling of anti-skid to the township in the amount of $1,718.76.

Supervisors approved the 2 percent garbage commission check for township Secretary-Treasurer Colleen Barret for $1,978.42, payments from December 2017 to November 2018.
