October 27, 2005 — Tamaqua’s Isaac Dunkelberger and Alexa Griffiths both earn first-place finishes at the District 11 Class 2A cross country championships at Lehigh University in Bethlehem. The two Blue Raiders also lead their squads to team titles. Dunkelberger finishes the course in 15:44, which is 48 seconds faster than runner-up Shane Rothermel of Lehighton. Panther Valley’s Dave Barachie takes third in 16:44, while Tamaqua’s Damian Shoff is fourth in 16:51. Griffiths runs a 19:24 in winning gold, while Northwestern’s Dana Stellar captures second in 19:57. Catie Messick (20:12) of Palmerton earns third.
