Memorial concert
A Gerald Geiger Memorial Concert will be held at 7 p.m. Oct. 27 at the Palmerton Area Library, 402 Delaware Ave., Palmerton. Gather for an evening of classical music played by a professional string quartet accompanied by pianist Sherry Freund. The concert is free and open to the public. Donations will be accepted at the door.
Train meet
The Carbon Model Railroad Society is sponsoring its Fall Train Meet on Nov. 4 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The meet will be held at the Diamond Fire Co. Bingo Hall, 120 Main St., Walnutport. This is a model railroad, toy train and railroadiania sale for the serious and amateur railroad and model train collector.
Refreshments will be available. Plenty of free parking. There is an admission charge. Bring your entire family and tell your friends.
Food pantry
The Food Pantry for Palmerton Area families in need will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Friday at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 2915 Fireline Road, Palmerton. The CACPAC-sponsored pantry serves households in Palmerton, Towamensing and Lower Towamensing townships, and the Palmerton Area School District including Bowmanstown.
The Palmerton Food Bank is in need of canned goods, nonperishable food items, and monetary donations. If you can help, please bring food items to any CACPAC member. Most area churches collect on a regular basis.
Basket raffle
Jerusalem United Church of Christ, 545 Church Drive, Trachsville will hold its Annual Basket Raffle & Bazaar from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 3 in the fellowship hall. There will be baskets to be raffled, baked goods and holiday items. Refreshments will be available for eat in or take out: homemade soup, hot dogs, barbecue, halushki, filling and beverages.
Blood drive
In conjunction with its annual bazaar, Jerusalem United Church of Christ, Trachsville will hold a blood drive on Nov. 3 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the parking lot of the church.
Roaring ’20s
The Concourse Club of Palmerton hosts the Fabulous Flappers of the Roaring ’20s at 7 p.m. Nov. 1 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 2915 Fireline Road, Palmerton. You are invited to this free meeting of the club as author and vintage clothing collector Ellie Laubner will present the history of the era followed by a display of select pieces from her fabulous, extensive collection.
Cash bingo
The Palmerton Lions Club will sponsor a Cash Bingo & Basket Raffle on Nov. 4 at the West End Fire Co., Princeton Ave., Palmerton. Food will be available beginning at 11:30 a.m. and the games start at 1 p.m. Packages are available. Call 610-381-3288 for information.
Filling sale
Jerusalem United Church of Christ, Trachsville, is taking orders for homemade filling. Orders are due by Nov. 4. To order, call 610-377-4936 or 610-681-4412. Pick up Nov. 11 or Nov. 18 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Breakfasts canceled
There will be no breakfasts at the Bowmanstown Volunteer Fire Co. now through April 2019.
