October 23, 1959 — Lafay Hope scores a pair of touchdowns to help power Tamaqua to a convincing 33-6 victory over Lansford. Hope gives the Blue Raiders a lead when he reaches the end zone on a 12-yard run early in the second quarter. Later in the frame, a blocked punt by George Barron sets up a 1-yard TD plunger for George Myers. The winners, coached by Dick Jones, extend their advantage in the second half when Ernie Comisac crosses the goal line from two yards out. Tamaqua receives another 1-yard tally from Hope, while Bruce Fegley puts on the finishing touches with a 10-yard gallup to the end zone.
