Rush Township board of supervisors approved the hiring of two additional police officers at its monthly meeting Thursday evening.
Jonathan Sullivan and Brandon McGinnis were hired as part-time police officers. McGinnis’ hiring is contingent on his obtaining his Municipal Police Officers’ Education & Training Commission certification while Sullivan’s hiring is retroactive to Oct 7. Both officers will be paid $20 an hour.
Police Chief Ken Zipovsky also reported that the township received 228 calls in September and collected $552 in parking ticket fines.
The supervisors announced that branch-only pickup will take place during the weeks of Oct. 22 and Oct. 29, followed by four weeks of leaf-only pickup beginning the week of Nov. 5. The leaf-only pickup will be broken down as follows:

Supervisors warned residents that any leaves and branches left out after these dates or after the resident’s designated week will not be picked up.
