Pleasant Valley school board directors made the following moves at the recent meeting:
Buildings and grounds contracts
• A contract was approved for the replacement of the boiler at PVI in the amount of $83,000. The contract was awarded to Leibold Inc.
• Snow removal contracts were awarded to Richard Frantz Trucking and Excavating for the Brodheadsville Campus and Bruce George Paving and Excavating for PVE, PVI and the Polk Elementary School.
Personnel
• The board approved the resignation of first-grade teacher Mark Getz, who accepted a position in another district.
The board approved the hiring of:
• Afton Bonser as a long-term substitute teacher for sixth grade at Pleasant Valley Intermediate School. Bonser has a degree in elementary education/early childhood education from Penn State University. Bonser previously taught sixth-grade science at Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools.
• Professional staff substitutes all at the rate of $110 per diem. The hires included Mary Ellen Abdelnour, Jennifer Baker and Stephanie Manhart.
• Paraprofessional substitutes at a rate pf $85 per diem. Those hired included Jessenia Ahmed, Ryann Enslin, Kathleen Gesiskie, Jessica Hansen, Monica Harrison-Gaddist, Lauren Langdon and Jennifer Baker.
• Lynn Vander Schans as a security officer at $13.74 per hour.
• Vivianna Castillo as a monitor at Pleasant Valley Middle School.
