This Friday’s high school football game between Jim Thorpe and Tamaqua could decide the winner of the Schuylkill League Division II Title, creating football fever in both communities.
Tamaqua Mayor Nathan Gerace, left, and Jim Thorpe Mayor Michael Sofranko have placed a small wager on the game’s outcome involving their respective team’s iced tea of choice.
If Tamaqua wins to remain undefeated, they will win the title outright, with Mayor Sofranko supplying the entire team with Guers iced tea.
If Jim Thorpe wins, Mayor Gerace will supply the team with their favorite, Bear Creek iced tea. KATHY KUNKEL/TIMES NEWS
