The Weatherly and Jim Thorpe boys cross country teams both finished in ties for their respective Schuylkill League division championships by picking up wins on Wednesday.

Gillingham at Weatherly
The Weatherly and Jim Thorpe boys picked up victories that secured both of them ties for Schuylkill League division championships during a quad meet that also included Lehighton and Gillingham Charter.
The Wreckers (16-2 overall, 13-1 league) were a perfect 3-0 on the day. They finished tied for the Division 2 championship with Shenandoah. Meanwhile, Jim Thorpe (16-2, 13-1) went 2-1 on the day and finished tied with Blue Mountain for the Division 1 championship.
Both teams will be involved in runoffs for the division titles on Wednesday during the Schuylkill All-League meet when Weatherly and Shenandoah runners, as well as Jim Thorpe and Blue Mountain runners, will be scored as dual meets.
The Wreckers’ Scotty Zoscin and the Olympians’ Sam Hydro finished 1-2 in the boys’ meet. Evan Beers grabbed an Indians’ best 10th-place finish.
The Indians’ trio of Kelsey Gaston, Asia Ahner and Madison Cressley grabbed the top three spots in the girls’ meet. The Wreckers’ Abby Hernandez, who finished in fourth, set a Weatherly school record for the course with her time of 24:32. Olivia Renode posted an Olympians’ best with an eighth-place finish.

Jim Thorpe defeated Tamaqua in Schuylkill League action, 4-2.
The loss eliminated Tamaqua from Schuylkill League postseason contention. The Raiders entered the game needing a tie or a win to clinch the league’s Division 1 wildcard berth.
Alex Putt scored twice to lead the Olympians. Chis Condly and Thor Huth also chipped in goals. Jack Morris had two assists.
Nathaniel Nofts scored two times for the Raiders.
Palmerton-No. Lehigh
Johnny Perloni’s two goals were all Palmerton needed to score a 2-0 Colonial League victory over Northern Lehigh.
Bombers’ keeper Bryce Yacone finished with eight saves to grab the shutout win. The Bulldogs’ Wesley Delons ended up with 11 saves.
Northwestern-Catasauqua
Caleb Danner’s four goals highlighted Northwestern’s 10-0 Colonial League win over Catasauqua.
Sam Seyfried added two goals for the Tigers, while Riley Shafer, Zach Creighton, Jason Blaine and Tyler Pena all added single scores.
Weatherly-Schuylkill Haven
Weatherly defeated Schuylkill Haven for a 2-1 Schuylkill League victory.
Elijah Derr and Mason Gerhard both scored first-half goals for the Wreckers.
Wreckers’ keeper Fairchild finished with three saves.
Weatherly improves to 5-9 overall and 4-8 in the league.
Lehighton-Blue Mountain
Blue Mountain rolled to a 6-0 Schuylkill League win over Lehighton.
Owen Oakley posted four goals for the Blue Eagles.

Makenzie Hoat’s two goals sparked Lehighton to a 3-1 win over Schuylkill Valley.
The Indians’ Gabriella Szozda added a single score.

Pine Grove-Tamaqua

Elizabeth Lucchese’s goal was all Pleasant Valley needed to secure a 1-0 Eastern Pennsylvania Conference victory over Stroudsburg.
With the win, the Bears captured their third-straight EPC Mountain Division title.

PV keeper Sam Merklin finished with seven saves.
Pleasant Valley improves to 12-5-1 overall and 11-4-1 in the conference, while Stroudsburg slips to 13-4 overall (12-4 EPC).

Pleasant Valley defeated East Stroudsburg South for a 25-13, 25-10, 25-8 Eastern Pennsylvania Conference win.
Cameron Caffrey led the Bears’ attack with 15 assists, 11 digs, six kills and six aces. Desi Powell followed with 13 kills, 10 digs, three aces and two blocks.
Ari Thourot (13 assists, three digs, three aces), Ari Weaver (eight kills, seven digs) and Andrea Janak (five digs, three kills, three aces) also contributed in the victory.
Marian-Notre Dame GP
Notre Dame of Green Pond recorded a 25-21, 25-20, 25-14 non-league win over Marian.
Tatianna Zeleniak paced the Fillies’ offense with 15 assists and 10 digs. Macie Mazaluski added 10 digs and six kills, while the Fillies’ trio of Antonina Zeleniak (19 digs), Kate Spillman (seven digs) and Caroline Snerr (seven digs) also played well in defeat.
Catasauqua-Palmerton
Catasauqua edged Palmerton in Colonial League play 25-19, 22-25, 25-20, 15-25, 15-13.

In a seventh grade game, Tamaqua came out on top with a 29-20 win over Panther Valley.
