Class of 1948
The Palmerton Area High School Class of 1948 will have their luncheon gathering at noon Oct. 18 at Bert’s Steakhouse, Palmerton. All classmates are welcome. Zinc City Cycle Club
Sunday Drags will be held on Oct. 14, beginning at noon at the Zinc City Cycle Club. The club is located on Route 209 1 mile south of Kresgeville (Trachsville).
Fall craft fair
Towamensing Elementary PTO’s 24th annual Fall Craft Fair & Basket Social will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 13, 7920 Interchange Road, Lehighton. There will be indoor and outdoor vendors, crafters and nonprofits. There will be a basket social and bake sale. Food and beverages will be available to purchase.
Jack the Ripper
The Palmerton Area Historical Society welcomes Rick Smith to enlighten and entertain the group with this haunting tale. The meeting will be held at the Little White Church, Third Street, Palmerton, at 7 p.m. Oct. 15. This presentation is free and open to the public. Fall carnival
Light in the Night Fall Carnival, hosted by the Living Hope Light House Church, will be held in the Palmerton Borough Park on Friday, from 6 to 9 p.m. Oct. 19. This is a free family fun event. There will be games, crafts, a life-size Candyland game, bounce house, face painting, food, prizes and more.
There will also be a multimedia puppet show in the Living Hope Light House sanctuary, 705 N. Third St., at 8:15 p.m.
The rain date is Oct. 20.
Trick or treat
Trick or treat night in the Borough of Palmerton will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 27. Residents wishing to participate in the fun event are asked to have their porch light on between these hours. Parents are reminded to be with their younger children, and drivers are urged to be cautious of children crossing the streets. Let’s have a fun, safe evening.
Halloween parade
The Palmerton Halloween Parade will begin at 4 p.m. Oct. 21. The parade will form at the Seventh Street field. The parade will travel to Lafayette Avenue and proceed to Second Street, turn left to Franklin Avenue, turn left and go to Third Street, turn right to Delaware Avenue, and turn left and return to Seventh Street, where the parade will disband. Grab you chairs and line the streets in support of the participants.
Third Monday Book Club
The Third Monday Book Club will meet at the Palmerton Area Library from noon to 1:30 p.m. on Oct. 15. The group discusses a different book each month. New members are always welcome. Please call the library at 610-826-3424 for information.
Library board
The Palmerton Area Library board of directors will meet at the library at 4 p.m. on Oct. 17. Meetings are open to the public.
Crop Walk
The annual CACPAC Crop Hunger Walk will take place Oct. 14, rain or shine. The walk will start at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Fireline Road, with registration at 1 p.m. and walk starting at 1:30 p.m. Distance is approximately 5.3 miles and will end with refreshments at First United Church of Christ on Delaware Avenue.
