Bloodmobile canceled

The Miller-Keystone bloodmobile scheduled for Oct. 16 at the American Fire Company in Lansford has been canceled. The next bloodmobile will be in February.

Golden Agers

Panther Valley Golden Agers will meet at 1 p.m. Monday at St. John’s Slovak Lutheran Church Social Hall.

Library story hour

Panther Valley Public Library will hold preschool story hour at 10 a.m. every Tuesday through Dec. 18. Children ages 3-5 are invited to join us for a story, craft and snack. This program is free of charge.

No registration is necessary, just drop by the library to enjoy this fun-filled hour. For more information, call the library 570-645-3780.

Medicare

The Panther Valley Public Library will be providing assistance to seniors during open enrollment for Medicare.

You may be able to save money on your Medicare and prescription drug costs. We suggest you review your plan each year and we can help you. We will be offering this service at the library 117 E. Bertsch St., Lansford, from 9 a.m. to noon on Oct. 17, Oct. 31, Nov. 14 and Nov 28.

Appointments must be scheduled through the Carbon County Area Agency on Aging. To schedule an appointment please call 800-441-1315.

Senior center

The menu at the Panther Valley Senior Center for the week of Oct. 8-12 is:

Monday: Columbus Day center closed

Tuesday: Chicken potpie, parsley potatoes, mixed vegetables, fruit salad or barbecue chicken sandwich

Wednesday: Bratwurst, sauerkraut, German potato salad, apple streusel or Cuban sandwich

Thursday: Pork chop, mashed potatoes, snap peas, berries or chicken Cobb salad

Friday: Pumpkin soup, harvest salad with turkey, cold sliced beets, fruited yogurt

The senior center also announced activities for Oct. 8 through 19:

Oct. 8 Center closed in observance of Columbus Day; Sunshine Meeting at 10 a.m. followed by Scattergories on Oct. 9; Bingo at 11 a.m. on Oct. 10; Nickel-Keeno at 11 a.m. on Oct. 11; Zumba at 10:30 a.m. on Oct. 12.

Birthday & Bingo on Oct. 15 at 11 a.m.; Horseracing on Oct. 16 at 11 a.m.; Train Ride on Oct. 17 at 1 p.m.; Cards on Oct. 18 at 10:30 a.m.; Popcorn and Movie on Oct. 19 at 10 a.m.
