Slatington man faces charges for drugs, false sticker

A Slatington man is being charged with a false vehicle inspection sticker and drug possession.

Anthony Uyvari, 35, of the 500 block of East Church Street, faces charges on two counts of altered, forged or counterfeit documents and plates; along with one count each of possession of a small amount of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to the affidavit of probable cause filed by officer Stephen Kiefer of the Slatington Borough Police Department:

At 11:27 p.m. Kiefer was on patrol in the area of the Slatington Airport when he saw Uyvari leaning into a red Chevrolet S-10.

Kiefer asked what he was doing late at night at the airport.

Uyvari said he was going fishing and working on his truck.

Kiefer saw the inspection sticker was taped on and appeared to be from another vehicle.

He asked to see Uyvari’s identification, but Uyvari said he didn’t have one.

Kiefer checked the inspection sticker and confirmed that the sticker was in fact from another vehicle.

He asked Uyvari if he or anyone was smoking in the vehicle, and he said his friend was earlier.

Kiefer conducted a search of the vehicle and recovered another piece of an inspection sticker that was for the month of December.

He also recovered multiple clear bags, some of which had a crystallike substance believed to be methamphetamine.

Kiefer recovered two multicolored glass pipes with burned marijuana inside, a black scale, a black zipper bag with four cut straws and clear bags with a crystallike substance inside the bag, and an orange container with burned marijuana inside.

Uyvari is scheduled to have a preliminary hearing at 9:45 a.m. Tuesday before District Judge Jacob Hammond of Allentown.

Uyvari remains incarcerated in Lehigh County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bail.
