Lehighton fire company donates for safety equipment

It’s all about safety at Baer Memorial Swimming Pool in Lehighton.

The pool is set to receive an injection of safety equipment courtesy of a $2,500 donation from the Lehigh Fire Co. No. 1 social quarters small games of chance.

Tom Evans, recreation director for Baer Memorial Swimming Pool, said the donation will pay for two Red Cross Big Red CPR mannequins with LED light feedback, two AED trainers, 10 Red Cross CPR masks, adult air bag mask, infant air bag mask, spine board, and a portable lifeguard chair.

“Baer Memorial Swimming Pool would like to thank Lehigh Fire Co. No. 1 for this amazing donation,” Evans said. “With this donation, this will increase our in-service training with the lifeguards.”

Evans made no bones about the pool’s top priority.

“Safety is number one,” he said. “Life is priceless.”
