Panther Valley news for Sept. 5, 2018

Golden Agers

At the Aug. 27 meeting of the Panther Valley Golden Agers, two new members, Pat Brown and Jane Tartar were introduced and welcomed to the club. Guest speaker for the day was Robert Miller, who is seeking re-election as Carbon County coroner.

An indoor picnic along with a Chinese auction will be held at the next meeting, which will be Monday at St. John’s Slovak Lutheran Church Social Hall beginning at 1 p.m.

Senior Center

The menu at the Panther Valley Senior Center for the week of Sept. 10-14 is:

Monday: Ham with pineapple, brown rice, Asian vegetables, and peach crisp or roast beet sandwich

Tuesday: Chicken rice soup, open hot turkey sandwich, tomato salad, and strawberries or barbecue chicken sandwich

Wednesday: Corn chowder, chicken spiedie, salad and an orange or turkey chef salad

Thursday: Stuffed cabbage, mashed potatoes, carrots, and Greek yogurt or buffalo chicken sandwich

Friday: Barbecue pork, sweet potatoes, green beans, cookie or beef fajita salad

The Panther Valley Senior Center announces upcoming events for Sept. 10-14.

Nickel-keeno on Sept. 10 at 11 a.m.; Sunshine Meeting on Sept. 11 starting at 9 a.m. followed by Cornhole at 11 a.m.; Birthday and Bingo on Sept. 12 at 11 a.m.; Poker-Keeno on Sept. 13 at 11 a.m.; Ping-Pong, Darts, Shuffleboard, and Cornhole on Sept. 14 starting at 10 a.m.
