A missing 15-year-old from Monroe County has been located after he reportedly traveled to South Carolina with a man and woman who claimed they were the boy’s new family.
The man and woman, 45-year-old Confesol Paduani and 30-year-old Cynthia Delgado, have been arrested for the alleged kidnapping of the boy, a resident of Middle Smithfield Township who they met online.
State police said in a news release Tuesday morning that they plan to extradite the couple to Pennsylvania where they will face charges including kidnapping and attempted sexual assault.
According to the news release, state police were called to the child’s home on Aug. 23. They learned that Delgado and Paduani had picked up the boy at his home in Middle Smithfield and drove him to a trailer park in South Carolina.
Police said they learned the man and woman had “engaged in sexual communication” with the minor, as well as communicating that they were the boy’s new family.
On Aug. 31, they issued a warrant for their arrest. On Sept. 3, they were arrested in Dillon, S.C. They are now awaiting extradition.
