The Pennsylvania State Police fire marshal is investigating the cause of an early morning fire that displaced 12 in Penn Forest Township. The blaze was reported at 4:30 a.m. Sunday.

Penn Forest Volunteer Fire Company No. 2 arrived first on scene at the fire on Scott Lane in Towamensing Trails and was assisted by Penn Forest No. 1, Albrightsville and Lake Harmony fire companies as well. Lehighton ALS and Mahoning Valley Rehab were also on scene.

According to Monica Cryan, regional communications manager for the American Red Cross of Eastern Pennsylvania, the six adults and six children are being assisted by the Red Cross. The Red Cross has provided temporary housing, clothing and food.
