Panther Valley Elementary apologized for confusion that led to some students being dropped off at the wrong bus stop on the first day of school.
Parents reported their children were dropped off later at some bus stops in Lansford.
The school, in a post on its Facebook page, said miscommunication between the district and its bus company, Kistler Transportation, led to the first day issues.
“We do our very best to avoid these types of mix-ups but human error happens,” the post read.
The message said that the bus number serving the stop at Spring Garden and Ridge streets changed. Also, some students were kept on the bus at the driver’s discretion because the children said they did not recognize anyone at their bus stop.
The school reminded parents to tell their children to remain on the bus until they see the person who is supposed to pick them up at the bus stop. For kindergarten students, someone is required to be at the bus stop all year.
“Your worst fear, as well as mine, is a child getting off a bus and not knowing where to go,” the message read.
