Concourse Club accepting entries for annual art show
The Concourse Club of Palmerton is accepting entries for its annual Art & Photography Show. The event coincides with the Palmerton Festival, which will be held Sept. 7 through 9 in Palmerton Borough Park.
The Art & Photography Show will take place from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sept. 8 and 1 to 4 p.m. Sept. 9 at St. John Neumann Regional School in Palmerton.
There are category divisions for youth and adults, which include paintings in all forms of art media, and black/white and color photographs. Winners will receive a variety of prizes.
Preregistration is $5 and is strongly encouraged. The registration details and forms are available on The Concourse Club of Palmerton website at www.concourseclub.org.
Registration will also take place from 4:30 to 6 p.m. on Sept. 7 with a $6 fee, and all artwork for the exhibit should be delivered to the school at that time. Three entries are allowed per category, per person.
Judges for this year’s show include: Anita Collins, Walter Heath, Lyndsey Heinrich, Brad Browne and Karen Hnatowick.
This year’s special Palmerton category is “Winter.” Entries for this special category should have something to do with winter in the picturesque town of Palmerton.
The entry can be a form of any of the three categories: painting, photography or mixed media. One entry per person; all ages welcome.
There is no entry or registration fee for this category; however, pieces that were previously entered in Concourse Club Art Shows or in any other category at this year’s art show are not allowed.
Entries will be judged by the members of the Concourse Club Art Show Committee; and one award for this category — $25 Chamber Bucks — will be presented.
Raffle prizes will be awarded Sunday and include a handmade quilted lap blanket, donated by Mary Brigham; a hand-painted bucket by Linda Koehler; and a quilted table runner by Barbara Herman.
An Artist Bargain Corner will be featured for local artists to display their works for sale.
The Concourse Club is dedicated to public service, and its activities enrich and support the Palmerton area. It meets at 7 p.m. on the first Thursday of the month from October through May at the St. John’s Lutheran Church on Fireline Road in Palmerton.
