A Monroe County driver is facing charges after his vehicle struck and injured a teen along a county road and then fled the scene, only to be apprehended later.
Pocono Mountain Regional police said the incident occurred at 10:40 p.m. on Sunday along Route 940 at Industrial Park Drive in Tobyhanna.
Police said officers were dispatched to a report of a pedestrian struck by vehicle whose driver fled the scene.
Police arrived at the location and found a 17-year-old female from Tobyhanna had been struck and injured. She was treated at the scene by Pocono Mountain Regional EMS unit personnel and then flown by medical helicopter to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest.
A witness pursued the fleeing vehicle and police were able to apprehend the driver along Interstate 380, just south of Route 940.
He was identified as Christianah Johnson, 71, of Tobyhanna.
Johnson was taken into custody and taken for a blood draw.
Pending the blood test results and accident reconstruction results, charges will be determined, police said.
