Palmerton pool
The Palmerton Memorial Park Association has announced that the Palmerton Pool closing time is now 7 p.m. However, it may stay open a little later if weather and people permit.
Basket auction
The annual Basket Auction and Book Sale will take place at the Palmerton Area Library during regular library hours now through Sept. 8. The drawing will be held Sept. 10. All items in the basement book sale will be offered at $2 a bag. Bags may be purchased at the library desk.
Carwash
A car wash will be hosted by the Palmerton Area Music Parents Association from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday at Leon George II school bus garage, 660 Delaware Ave., Palmerton. Please help those going to Disney earn funds for their trip.
Food pantry
The food pantry for Palmerton Area families in need will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Friday at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 2915 Fireline Road, Palmerton. The CACPAC-sponsored pantry serves households in Palmerton; Towamensing and Lower Towamensing townships; and the Palmerton Area School District including Bowmanstown.
The Palmerton Food Bank is in need of canned goods, nonperishable food items and monetary donations. If you can help, please bring food items to any CACPAC member. Most area churches collect on a regular basis. Your help is greatly appreciated.
Breakfast
Breakfast will be served from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Sunday at the Bowmanstown Volunteer Fire Co., 259 Lime St., Bowmanstown.
Senior center
The Palmerton Senior Center, 501 Delaware Ave., Palmerton (Ambulance Building) serves lunch daily at 11:30 a.m. Monday through Friday. For lunch reservations call the day before by 9:30 a.m.
Activities include pinochle, penny games and bingo. For information or to reserve lunch call 610-826-4505.
Flea Market
Jerusalem Evangelical Lutheran Church picnic grove, 500 Church Drive, (Trachsville) Palmerton is holding a flea market from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 15. Rain date is Sept. 16.
Food and refreshments, bake sale, vendors are welcome.
