John and Anna Mary (Gerlach) Mauro of Hometown celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on July 27. They were married in St. Kunegunda Roman Catholic Church, McAdoo, by the Rev. Stanislaus Gorak.

Mr. Mauro is a retired Pennsylvania State trooper and a Carbon County detective. Mrs. Mauro is retired from the M&T Bank, where she worked as a customer service representative.

The couple has two children: Anthony Mauro of West Chester and his wife, Ginger, and Mary Beth, wife of Ben Walker of Lake Hauto. They also have five grandchildren: John, Daniel and Luke Mauro; and Maura and Molly Walker.

The celebration included a river cruise in France and a family dinner at Basile’s Restaurant in Hometown.
