Firefighters from Summit Hill and Lansford worked in the intense heat Monday afternoon to rescue a man from a mountainside south of Summit Hill.
The operation began just before 2 p.m when it was reported a man was suffering from a medical condition while riding an all- terrain vehicle with a female companion.
Rescuers entered the mountain on a trail in the four hundred block of West Holland street. After the victim was located it was determined he would be taken down a mining road to a gate on the mining grounds at the Third street gate in Coaldale.
After being treated at the scene by Lehighton paramedics he was transported to a local hospital.
