Berlinsville Braves blanked; Weatherly wins
Limeport downed Berlinsville in a Blue Mountain League pitcher’s duel on Thursday, while Weatherly edged Drums in Valley Babe Ruth action.
In the Panther Valley 11-12 Little League tournament, Towamensing posted a victory over Tamaqua 11, while Anthracite 12 completed pool play with a perfect 5-0 mark.
BLUE MTN. LEAGUE
Limeport-Berlinsville
Berlinsville received an outstanding pitching performance from Tyler Svetik, but the Braves still dropped a 1-0 decision to the Limeport Dodgers.
Svetik, a Palmerton graduate, allowed just seven hits and one run in a complete-game effort. He also struck out six.
Limeport’s Evan Kulig, however, won the pitcher’s duel by tossing a three-hit shutout. Kulig added two hits at the plate and scored the game’s only run.
Northern Lehigh grad Cody Krupa and Tamaqua product Matt Minchhoff accounted for two of the Braves’ three hits.
The loss dropped Berlinsville to 11-15, while Limeport improved to 7-20.

Weatherly-Drums
Gary Buck had two hits and knocked in a run as Weatherly edged Drums, 3-2.
AJ Knepper collected two hits, one a double, for the winners, while Steph Yurchak and Charles Everdale added RBI singles.
Pitchers Carl McHugh, Knepper and Jeremy Moser combined to limit Drums to just the two runs.

Towamensing-
Tamaqua 11 Blue
Dalton Rumfield had three hits and scored three runs to help Towamensing roll to a 14-1 victory over Tamaqua 11 Blue.
JJ Jacoby added two hits and a pair of runs, while the winners also received a hit and two runs from Mason George.
For Tamaqua, Kamant had a hit and scored a run.
Anthracite 12-
Tamaqua 12 Blue
Stephen Hood’s three-run homer in the first inning powered the Anthracite 12’s to a 9-4 win over Tamaqua 12 Blue.
Hood was also the winning pitcher.
Mikayla Yurichek delivered an RBI double, while Brody Breiner also drove in a run for Anthracite.
For Tamaqua, Chase Andrews had a double and solo home run. Mason Ligenza and Luke Kane had two hits apiece.

Anthracite 11
Drew Kokinda pitched a gem to lead the Anthracite 12’s to a 10-0 win over the Anthracite 11’s.
Brody Breiner had three hits for the 12’s, while Cody Orsulak, Trey McAndrew and Chase Weaver all added doubles.
Brennan Kunkle had the lone hits for the 11’s.
Anthracite 12-JT Blue
Chase Weaver and Drew Kokinda propelled Anthracite 12’s to a 9-2 win over Jim Thorpe Blue.
Weaver and Kokinda both had three hits apiece for Anthracite, with Kokinda scoring three runs. Hayden Goida added two doubles in the victory.
Ian Henkels and Jack Edwards both had hits for Jim Thorpe.
Anthracite 12-Franklin 11
Several clutch hits helped the Anthracite 12’s pick up a 12-6 win over the Franklin 11’s.
Stephen Hood had a three-run homer and a single for Anthracite, while Chase Weaver added a single and a triple.
Cody Orsulak and Matt Engler both doubled in the win, and Trey McAndrew singled twice.
Albert, Pheiffer and Smith all collected hits for Franklin.
Anthracite 12-FT Maroon
Solid hitting and pitching helped the Anthracite 12’s blank Franklin Maroon 11-0.
Chase Weaver, Tyler Black and Hayden Goida all had two hits apiece for Anthracite. Stephen Hood added a double.
Bowman and Gable had singles for Franklin.
