Palmerton pool
The Christmas in July event at the Palmerton Memorial Pool has been changed to this Saturday, July 21. Santa will be stopping by, along with Christmas music, Christmas trivia, a candy cane hunt, and cookies will be served to kiddies. They will be selling snow cones and of course the famous Duck Race! Presents to lucky winners. Cross your fingers for the weather and hope to see you there for this family friendly event.
Jittery Joints
Jittery Joints, mild water exercise classes began this week at the Palmerton Memorial Pool. Classes are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday for four weeks from 10-11 a.m. with lap swimming going until 11:30 a.m. This is free to members and those who are not members you may attend by daily admission, which would also give you swimming for the rest of the day. Park concert
The concert in the borough park on Sunday will be by the Marine Band of Allentown. This concert is sponsored by the Horsehead Community Development Fund and a Friend of the Concert Series. The concert begins at 7 p.m. in the Palmerton Borough Park Bandstand. Bring a lawn chair for an evening of inspiring music. In case of bad weather concerts will be canceled with no rain date. No alcohol or smoking is permitted in the park.
Community meal
A free community meal will be held from 4-6 p.m. July 26 at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 365 Lafayette Ave., Palmerton. All are welcome for a free meal and fellowship.
Food pantry
The Food Pantry for Palmerton Area families in need will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. July 27 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 2915 Fireline Road, Palmerton. The CACPAC-sponsored pantry serves households in Palmerton, Towamensing and Lower Towamensing townships, and the Palmerton Area School District including Bowmanstown.
The Palmerton Food Bank is in need of canned goods, nonperishable food items and monetary donations. If you can help, please bring food items to any CACPAC member. Most area churches collect on a regular basis. Your help is greatly appreciated.
Biblical Broadway
Come to Jerusalem United Church of Christ, 545 Church Drive, Palmerton (Trachsville) for a Worship Celebration: Biblical Broadway & Beyond. The event will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday at 7 p.m. in the church grove.
Members and friends of the church invite you to explore biblical stories and themes that have been brought to the stage and screen. Music will be provided by God’s House Band & Friends.
Bring your own chair and celebrate, sing, and listen to how God speaks to you in song.
Model railroad
A Christmas in July Open House is being held at the Carbon Model Railroad Society. It’s continuing Saturday and Sunday at 529 Ore St., Bowmanstown. The main HO scale display is in various stages of completion and is an excellent learning tool. The club’s portable HO and N scale displays are also in operation on the second floor along with new and pre-owned trains and accessories for sale. Admission is free; donations are welcome.
