Marilyn (Maehrer) and Edgar A. Poe Jr. of Jim Thorpe celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on June 27. The couple was married at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Mauch Chunk by the late Rev. R. Frank Herr.

Marilyn is the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. George W. Maehrer. Edgar is the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Edgar A. Poe.

The Poes have a son, David A. Poe of Jim Thorpe; and a daughter, the late Joann McGavin. They have one granddaughter, Laura R. McGavin.

Mr. Poe is a veteran of the Marine Corps and served in World War II and the Korean War.
