Reis Weinert starred in basketball, track and field

Hillary Reis Weinert will be one of the inductees into the 2018 Jim Thorpe Hall of Fame.

Reis Weinert graduated from Jim Thorpe in 2010 and finished her career with eight varsity letters: four in basketball and four in track and field.

She was known as a scorer and rebounder in basketball, and was the recipient of the Coach’s Award in her senior year as an outstanding contributor to her team throughout her four years as a varsity letterwinner.

She excelled in track and field, participating in the high jump, 400 meters, and the 400 relay.

In 26 Schuylkill League meets, Hilary earned 21 first-place finishes in the high jump and 14 first-place finishes in the 400. She broke the school and stadium record in the high jump, and also became one of the first Olympian track and field athletes to earn a state medal by finishing seventh in the event in 2009.

Hillary also broke the school record in the 400 during her sophomore year, and then broke it again in her junior year. In her senior year, she participated in six league meets, finishing first in the high jump five times, and winning the 400 on three occasions.

But it was as a member of the 2010 400 relay team that Reis Weinert and her running mates really sparkled. They broke the school record, and then broke it again in winning the District 11 Class 2A title. Their winning time also set a new District 11 record. That gold medal earned them a trip to states and a spot in the Jim Thorpe Hall of Fame Class of 2016.

Reis Weinert continued her career at Moravian College, where she graduated in 2014 with a major in mathematics and a minor in computer science. While there, she participated in the high jump, 400, and long jump — earning medals in both indoor and outdoor track. She was part of a Moravian team that won the Landmark Conference Indoor and Outdoor championships in 2010-2011.

She now resides in Wilmington, Delaware where she works as an Operations Analyst for the Delaware Claims Processing Facility.
