A Lehighton man was cited after a vehicle he was driving struck an International Harvester on Route 309 in Lynn Township at 3:22 p.m. July 3.
State police at the Fogelsville barracks said Jason E. Price, 42, was cited for driving too fast for conditions. He was injured and was transported to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township. Police said the severity of his injuries is unknown.
Police said Price was northbound in a 2002 Ford Explorer when the Harvester, operated by Owusu Aboagye, 51, of Philadelphia, was disabled on the eastern shoulder of Route 309, facing north and partially blocking the right lane of travel. Police said Price attempted to merge into the left lane of travel as his vehicle approached the disabled vehicle, but was unable to avoid it and struck it on the rear with its right passenger’s side.
Police said the Explorer rotated clockwise and came to rest partially blocking the southbound and northbound lanes of traffic.
Both vehicles needed to be towed from the scene.
Police were assisted at the scene by the New Tripoli Fire Department, Cetronia EMS and Yocum’s Towing.
