Berlinsville posts shutout win

Berlinsville posted a Blue Mountain League win on Monday, while Franklin Township Maroon and Tamaqua also gained victories during the Panther Valley Little League tournament.

BLUE MTN. LEAGUE

Roseto-Berlinsville

Josh McClain tossed a six-hit shutout to lead the Berlinsville Braves to a 6-0 victory over the Roseto Bandits.

McClain walked just one and struck out six.

Kyle Buchman collected two hits, one a double, knocked in a pair of runs, and scored once, while Andrew Roth added a double and an RBI.

The Braves (9-13) also received a walk and run scored from Northwestern graduate Jake Augustus.

FT Maroon-FT White

Tanner Manogue, Tyler Poole, and Robert Dwojewski each banged out three hits and scored two runs to propel Franklin Township Maroon to a 12-2 victory over Franklin Township White.

The winners also received two hits and a pair of runs from Michael Bowman, while Dominic Angelus chipped in with two hits and a run.

Others who contributed a hit and run included Adam Bastone, Connor McClure, and Jake Hall.

McClure started the game on the mound for Franklin and tossed two scoreless innings. Hayden Dyer closed the contest with two scoreless frames.

For FT White, Kieler Kemmerer and Seth Smith scored their team’s runs.

FT Maroon-Anthracite

Franklin Township Maroon rolled to a 15-1 victory over Anthracite on Saturday.

Tanner Manogue and Cameron Gable both had three hits for Franklin Township. Connor McClure and Michael Bowman both added two hits, with one of McClure’s being a home run. All four players scored a pair of runs.

Starting pitcher Hayden Dyer faced just eight batters and struck out five in the four-inning, mercy-rule victory.

Gio Tessitore walked and scored the only run for Anthracite.

JT Red-Tamaqua

Jake Yenser had a good day on the mound and at the plate to help Tamaqua gain a 16-6 win over Jim Thorpe Red.

Yenser pitched three innings of hitless ball, and went 2-for-3 in the batter’s box. One of his hits was a home run, as he finished with three RBIs.

Brady McCabe added two hits, one a homer, while Ana Ackerman collected a single and a double. Logan Buccieri chipped in with two RBIs.

For JT Red, Bosi delivered a two-run double.
