A 13-year-old Pocono Summit boy drowned Sunday in Stillwater Lakes, Pocono Summit.
Pocono Mountain Regional Police were called to the lake clubhouse at 2:59 p.m. to assist EMS with a possible drowning.
When officers arrived four minutes later, they found numerous people searching the water. Poor visibility hampered the efforts, police said.
Seven PMRPD officers joined the coordinated search effort.
As a grid search began in earnest, the youth was found in an area where the water was approximately 10 feet deep. Ambulance and police personnel began CPR efforts, which continued while the boy was transported to a waiting ambulance. He was rushed to Lehigh Valley Hospital-Pocono in critical condition, then airlifted to Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest.
Police were notified Monday that the boy died.
