The body of a retired journalist was found in a lake in Monroe County.

According to Monroe County coroner Tom Yanac, Gerald A Karey, 75, of Silver Spring, Maryland,  was found at Mountain Spring Lake Resort in Jackson Township just after 10 p.m. Monday by the property owner. 

The resort is owned by State Rep. Jack Rader, R-176. The staff at the resort said they are not able to comment on the matter.

Yanac said there is a pending investigation. A forensic autopsy will be held on Thursday.

The owners of Mountain Spring Resort were on scene and helpful with the recovery process along with Jackson Township Fire Department and  State Police at Fern Ridge.

Karey is a retired journalist and author. According to linkedin, he wrote a blog called “Unhinged,” and had worked for McGraw-Hill, Newark Star Ledger and the Asbury Park Press.
