Summit Hill man pens collection of dreams, theories

A conversation with Stanley “Porky” Szczecina, a Summit Hill resident, is thought-provoking in its own right. But the man’s recent publication, “Porky’s Shorts,” is likely to incite plenty of conversation.

The author of the fictional “Laura Leinhart: The Sommers Hill Adventure,” a three-edition PublishAmerica series, Porky has delved into new turf, penning his latest book that was released recently on Amazon.com.

The publication is a nonfiction collection of Szczecina’s short stories, focusing primarily around his dreams and citing instances on how they played out at times into reality.

“I’m hoping the feedback is positive. It’s a different kind of book and for a different reader demand,” said Szczecina, now retired and enjoying a rejuvenated hobby.

“Over the years, I happened to spend time thinking about different dreams and how they might be presented in a way that some people would want to read about them,” he said. “So I decided to put my thoughts into words, and the book represents a variety of events and different material that I hope the readers might enjoy.”

“Porky’s Shorts” offers readers a variety of thoughts and theories in the 10-plus short stories Szczecina details. The book is his way of “putting something out there for the readers, with a good possibility there will be a lot of interest shown in paranormal activity in the dreams.”

Available on Amazon Kindle, and in paperback as well, the read gives Szczecina’s recollections of dreams involving local and national situations dating back to his service as a Marine.

In addition to his military service, Szczecina has a long list of hilltop community involvement, and as such, he was recognized by being named as the grand marshal of the 1999 Summit Hill Memorial Day Parade.

About his newest book, Szczecina says, “Some people live in the human element of the psychic experience and might dismiss it, but others might think maybe it’s a prophetic gift.”

In the short stories, he depicts “how things came true,” including a dream when he forewarned a bus load of Marines of impending danger, after which time the bus in which they were occupants did indeed crash. In another story, he talks about how a dream lent a hand to York police in the apprehension of a man who attacked an elderly woman.

His narratives range from incidents in his hometown to national issues of days past, including the attempted assassination of President Reagan and, what he claims, “sheds new light on the JFK assassination, from the grassy knoll to the depository, Oswald and Ruby.”

The local references include a short dream that he says aided Summit Hill police in the capture of a fleeing suspect, as well as his explanation about winning the lottery three times “and circumstances around those events.”

Szczecina says he is “pleased Amazon reviewed and accepted the manuscript.” On Kindle, the book is available in 40 countries, “so the marketplace is big,” he adds. “The market place is awesome for these types of stories.”

Szczecina wants readers of “Porky’s Shorts” to be open-minded.

“We’re set in our ways and often don’t think of things differently. The book exposes the reader to new information, to the supernatural and beyond, and readers will see and hear about dreams that are different prophetic dreams supported by eyewitnesses,” he says.

“If you’re willing to read it, you might find new information about things, and it may change your thinking of things in the past,” he says.

“It’s not a normal nonfiction book, It’ll make you ask yourself, ‘How is it possible that these things happen?’”

Szczecina is also the author of “Laura Leinhart: The Sommers Hill Adventure,” parts I and II, and “Laura Leinhart’s Search for the Holy Grail,” published in 2006 by PublishAmerica.
