A former employee at the Turkey Hill Minit Mart in Tamaqua has been charged with theft.

Police were called on April 28 concerning a shortage of lottery tickets.

During the investigation it was determined that Amos Johnson, 44, of the 600 block of Arlington Street, took eight lottery tickets, and several other items from the store between April 8 and 28. The merchandise totaled $204.90.

He was charged with theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property and retail theft.
