A Chester woman faces multiple drug charges after state police said she was in possession of 2 pounds of methamphetamine and 20 grams of fentanyl during a traffic stop Monday in Kidder Township.
State police stopped a 2008 Mercury Milan driven by Mary Vernice McCullough, 24, on the Pennsylvania Turnpike, near the exit at Route 940, for following a tractor-trailer at a close distance.
During the stop, police said they noticed a smell of marijuana, leading them to search the vehicle.
Officers found two brown taped packages each containing a pound of suspected methamphetamine and a clear plastic bag with the suspected fentanyl.
Numerous marijuana blunts were retrieved from the center console, according to an affidavit of probable cause.
The estimated street value of the drugs is $50,000.
McCullough was arrested and told police she knew nothing about the narcotics.
The suspected drugs were sent to Wyoming Regional Laboratory for analysis.
McCullough is charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance and possession of a small amount of marijuana.
She remains in Carbon County Correctional Facility on $200,000 cash bail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 11 in front of Magisterial District Judge Joseph Homanko Sr.
